New trail run for the well known and famous Baviaanskloof!

The inaugural Baviaans Mountain Marathon will take place on Saturday, 4 July 2026 in the Baviaanskloof, with the start and finish at Doringkloof Boskamp, 90km East of Willowmore.

Together with the 42km Marathon we also offer a half marathon and 10km race, all taking place simultaneously.  Winter is known as “kudu time”, meaning utmost care must be taken when driving early morning so the starting time is 08h00 for the 42km, 08h15 for the 21km and 08h30 for the 10km runners.

It is advised to book 2 nights’ accommodation in the Kloof.  We will communicate accommodation options and the program for non-running supporters and family members on our social media pages – come enjoy a day in the Baviaanskloof meeting the locals, drinking in the beauty of the area while you just relax.  Click here for a list of available accommodation in the Baviaanskloof.

Breakfast, light meals during the day and a spit braai late Saturday afternoon will be available at Doringkloof Boskamp.  Prize giving will be at 15h00 and all participants will receive finisher medals.

All marathon and half marathon runners will receive the GPX File before the time.  The route will be well marked with water and aid stations, however a tracker (included in the entry fee) is compulsory.  Cell phone signal is limited to zero although the area where the 10km runners will be has MTN signal in certain spots.

PLEASE NOTE THE ROUTE GOES OVER PRIVATE FARM LAND AND IS NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC PRIOR TO RACE DAY!  Disrespecting will lead to a hefty fine and banning from future events.

Number collection can be done on Friday 3 July between 15h00 and 19h00 at the Boskamp.
