We just love the fact that you can live in one of the smallest villages in the country, but be part of a global event. The Resort Trail Run, taking place on Sunday 19 March 2023, is part of the global World Water Run, celebrated between 16 and 22 March world wide. Our run, starting and finishing at the Cape St Francis Resort, will create awareness for the water crises we are all facing.
Water Warrior Mina Guli will finish her 200th marathon in a year on the steps of the first ever UN Water Conference in New York on 22 March 2023. We are taking hands with #worldwaterrun to do our bit for the environment – quite fitting as our beloved Kouga has been facing water challenges since 2017. Please come dressed in blue!
The Resort Trail Run is also part of the second annual St Francis Amanzi Challenge, and as we all (should) know, Amanzi means water. It will start at 08h00 at the Cape St Francis Resort, and take you through the nature reserves of Cape St Francis. Runners can choose between 5km, 10km and 21km while walkers are welcome in the 5km distance. Due to the sensitivity of the area no dogs are allowed.
Online entries are open on EntryNinja and close on Saturday 18 March at 18h00. The 1st 50 online entries received before 10 March will each get a special Amanzi Challenge T-shirt, and it will be blue in support of #worldwaterrun. Apart from entering the race on EntryNinja, please sign up for the awareness campaign and you will receive a virtual bib, certificate and a shirt design you can have printed.
The entry fees are:
5km: R50 (on the day R80)
10km: R100 (on the day R150)
21km: R150 (on the day R180).
A donation will be made to FOSTER, who looks after the nature reserves in Cape St Francis.
Number collection and late registration can be done at the Cape St Francis Resort on Saturday between 15h00 and 17h00. Number collection on Sunday is from 07h00 with race briefing at 07h45.
There will be waterpoints where possible, but it is advised to be self-sufficient.
